Four new Smartron locomotives for Bulmarket Group in Bulgaria
Four new electric Smartron locomotives have been delivered to Bulmarket Group AD. With these, the company has acquired a total of ten locomotives from the series, which has already surpassed 100 units in recent years.
Smartron is a family of locomotives derived from and based on the Vectron platform, one of the most widespread locomotive series in Europe. The Smartron locomotives are specifically adapted to the needs of the company – designed for a standard track gauge of 1435 mm, they weigh around 83 tons and can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, making them ideal for the Bulgarian railway network. They feature optimized energy consumption, reducing electricity costs by 10 to 20 percent compared to other models. The locomotives are equipped with state-of-the-art systems for tracking speed and location via GPS, as well as 24/7 video surveillance systems, ensuring exceptional reliability and safety.
With the methodical modernization of its rolling stock over the years, Bulmarket Group AD reinforces its commitment to operate in full alignment with global and its own sustainable development goals, playing a key role in the transformation towards a greener and cleaner railway industry.
"The deployment of these locomotives not only strengthens our operational efficiency but also significantly contributes to reducing the ecological footprint of our operations," says Daniel Nedelkov, manager of Bulmarket Rail Cargo. "This is part of our vision for the future, where transportation is fully sustainable and in harmony with nature."
To highlight its commitment to innovation and sustainability, Bulmarket Group will continue the modernization of its rolling stock in the coming years, introducing even more eco-friendly technologies and improvements to help build a cleaner environment and solidify the company's ongoing success in the railway sector.
