Mediapost Hit Mail with third annual survey among online merchants
Mediapost Hit Mail has launched its third annual international survey on e-commerce, aiming to explore the common challenges and requirements faced by online retailers from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) when expanding abroad. The 2024 survey will also include countries from the rapidly developing Western Balkans region, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
The survey, established as the largest privately-funded project of its kind in the region, has become a key source of valuable data on the state of e-commerce over the past years. It helps online merchants better navigate the complexities of international online expansion. By collecting data directly from participants in the e-commerce sector, Mediapost Hit Mail aims to identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities that can shape the future of e-commerce in the region.
The e-commerce sector in CEE has shown remarkable growth and resilience, with the market expanding by 29% in 2023, reaching a total value of €104 billion, according to Ecommerce Europe. This growth is driven by increasing internet penetration, improved logistics infrastructure, and a rapidly growing consumer base. The momentum is expected to continue in 2024, with Statista predicting an 18% year-on-year increase, reaching approximately €122 billion.
Participating in the survey offers businesses valuable insights into the latest industry trends, challenges, and opportunities specific to the CEE region. By understanding market conditions and consumer expectations, companies can adapt their strategies to effectively engage and cater to customers in this dynamic region.
Furthermore, businesses can compare themselves with peers, gaining a competitive edge and identifying areas for improvement. By joining the survey, online retailers will receive the final report for free, which contains a detailed analysis of the survey results, key findings, and actionable recommendations, serving as a valuable resource to enhance international growth strategies.
The questionnaire is available in several languages, including Bulgarian and Romanian, and fieldwork will be conducted from mid-May to the end of June 2024. The final report is expected by September 2024, with active support from most local e-commerce associations in the region.
