New road fines introduced in Romania
Drivers who talk on the phone, send messages, take pictures or record videos, while driving in Romania, will be sanctioned more severely from October 12th, according to local police.
The new rules are aimed at a total ban on mobile phone usage or usage of devices that can record video, take pictures, or write text while driving.
Failure to comply with restrictions by drivers of vehicles, agricultural machinery or public transport will be penalized with a fine of 870 to 1160 RON. In addition, if the driver also violates other traffic rules, he or she may have his or her driver's license revoked within 30 days.
There are also fines for holding or using phones or other mobile devices, even when driving vehicles for which the driver's license is not compulsory (eg electric tripod).
